Blue Dreidel Yodel #9
This city life is far away from what I grew up with
and it’s nice to have some friends who know what Rosh Hashanah is
But yesterday as i was shopping for my little boy
i came across my favorite childhood toy.
My mind went back to the good ol’ days when i was kid
And thought of all the games we played and funny things we did
my favorite country song, hearing Patsy Yodel-ay
my favorite toy, of course, was the top made out of clay
So i bought that little dreidel-eidel-ay-dee-dle-oh-dee-ay…
So now when i get homesick, lonesome or ver klempt
I put on Jimmie Rodgers and my Kentucky accent
And spin the top for chocolate coins, shin, gimel, nun or hei.
So listen all you country jews up in the big cit-ay.
Go buy yourself a little dreidel…

Mazel Tonk!

Christmas time again, everybody is happy Decorations hanging all about
And all the other country folk
in the spirit laugh and joke
but I feel a little left out
I am a country girl at heart Except for one small part
I like that mazel tonk, eight days of presents Mazel tonk, blue christmas lights
Ain’t no honky in this girl
but a whole lot of tonky tonight.
Mama always got us a Christmas tree and we’d set it right by the menorah But up at the top of it,
we’d hang a Star of David
and do a Texas Two Step to the Horah
Because a girl’s got to dance and when i get the chance
I dance to mazel tonk, eight days of presents Mazel tonk, blue christmas lights
Ain’t no honky in this girl
but a whole lot of tonky tonight.
While you wait for old St. Nicholas I eat Chinese Food
Drink Manischevitz
I am a country girl at heart except for one small part
I like thatmazel tonk, eight days of presents Mazel tonk, blue christmas lights
Ain’t no honky in this girl
but a whole lot of tonky tonight.
but a whole lot of tonky tonight. but a whole lot of tonky tonight. yee haw!

Brigid Kaelin Louisville
A "plucky redhead," a "genre-defying vaudeville rocker," and an "amazing multi-instrumentalist," Brigid Kaelin is a full-on entertainer. You've read her blog, heard her on the BBC and on NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion," seen her play accordion with Elvis Costello, and laughed and cried at her original alt-country cabaret songs. Maybe it's time to buy her albums? ... more
